A game called Epic Games has been installed to Windows Store in Canada, leaving users with a damaged phone.
The company said Wednesday that Epic Games’ iOS and Android game, The Witness, was installed to the Store, and it was installed without asking for any permissions.
Epic Games also said it would be removing the game from the Windows Store, but not before users had received it for free.
Epic Games said the game is a standalone app for Windows 10.
Epic told us it will not be removing The Witness from the store, but will be removing it from the game store as soon as possible.
We appreciate your understanding, we will be contacting our community to remove the game.
We will not stop supporting our games until we have a full version of the game available on Windows 10 for all Windows 10 devices.
Epica Games CEO Steve Case said the company is aware of the situation, but was unaware of the details.
EpyGames said in a statement that it will be “reviewing the removal of the application in the coming weeks.”
Epic also said in the statement that the game “was not intended for use on Windows phones, and is not a Windows Store-compatible game.”
We apologize for any inconvenience.
The Witness was never intended for Windows Phone.
